A Dutch Hotel Will Construct The First Fully 3D-Printed Building In 2017
The Dutch hotel De Slaapfabriek announced its plan to build an entirely 3D printed, zero-carbon footprint conference room, a part of a 3D-printed building project, to be completed in under ten days in July 2017. The founders Arvid and Marjo Prigge pitched their idea to build an environmentally-friendly space to various construction startups at the Dutch Construction Hackathon in May 2016. The one-room building will use recycled waste materials in its construction, and its interior will feature unique video and sound effects to help establish a mood-oriented environment. If the project is successful, it could pave the way for more large scale construction projects using 3D-printing technology.
